RoMa Craft's Intemperance EC XVIII was among the first official cigar releases by RoMa Craft Tobac upon the company's 2012 debut. The cigar's name is in reference to the temperance movement, which became powerful enough at the turn of the 20th century to inspire the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (and the eventual prohibition of alcohol in 1920). With this concept, RoMa Craft explores the parallel between the negative outlook on alcohol in the 1920s and the current perception of cigars in the United States.
Intemperance was originally rolled in five unique sizes, which are identically mirrored between two cigar blends. Where the Intemperance BA XXI represents a dark maduro experience, the EC XVIII showcases a contrasting, smooth and creamy Connecticut variety (hence the "EC" in the cigar's name). Each blend is centered around the same binder/filler recipe, allowing smokers the unique chance to experience the flavor changes brought on by the wrapper leaf. Intemperance EC XVIII is often hailed as a leader in the modern style of full-flavored Connecticuts, being one of the first/most notable Connecticuts to veer from the mild tendencies of Connecticut-wrapped cigars; instead, EC XVIII brings a medium body and fuller flavors intended for the modern enthusiast.
