Christian Luis Eiroa, former president of Camacho Cigars, who’s family purchased and ran Camacho Cigars since 1995, had remained with Camacho for a short time after selling Camacho to Oettinger Davidoff Group in 2008. After a short period apart from the cigar industry, due to a non-compete with Davidoff, Eiroa re-entered the cigar scene in 2012—debuting the C.L.E. Cigar Company.
As the Eiroa family retained ownership of their Honduran farms, the new entity would focus again on Honduran blends based on original, Cuban-seed tobaccos—eventually moving production to the family’s Aladino Cigar Factory in Danlí (originally being made at Tabacos Ranchos Jamastran factory—aka Camacho factory). C.L.E. Cigar Co. would later become the parent company of a multitude of today’s most popular brands, including CLE Cigars, EIROA Cigars, Asylum Cigars, and Edgar Hoill Cigars.
At launch, CLE showcased two blends: CLE Cuarenta and CLE Corojo. The Corojo uses the Eiroa family’s prized Cuban-seed tobaccos over Honduran fillers, offering an affordable smoking experience with big flavors and medium/full body.
