Cedrus

Like nearly all Southern Draw cigars, the Cedrus is themed around faith, florals, and family. This is evidenced first by the Lebanese Cedar trees commonly used for ancient woodworking and incorporated into holy temples, palaces and sailing vessels. Second, the name ties into the Western Red Cedar found in the Pacific United States, which grow up to 200’ tall and live up to 1,000-plus years. Finally, Cedrus began as a tribute to Phil and Shelly Hogan, close friends of the Holt family (owners of SD Cigars) and whose name is often used to describe the aforementioned Western Red Cedar (aka "The Hogan").

In terms of blending, Cedrus is Southern Draw's most complex recipe of tobaccos, taking five years to create from start to finish. It consists of highly select ingredients, including a Besuki TBN wrapper from Sumatra, Indonesia; a Nicaraguan Habano 2000 binder; and a diverse filler that boasts a Habana ’92 seco from Quilalí, Nicaragua, visos from the Dominican Republic (Piloto Cubano) and Nicaragua (Criollo ’98), and Corojo ’99 ligero from Jalapa, Nicaragua.
